When I took the position as children’s leader at BFC I almost instantly started to get questions about VBS. It seemed like everyone wanted to make sure VBS was a main focus for me. However with all that there is to be done, I have to admit I was more than a little overwhelmed. As a result my first year as children’s leader went with out a VBS and we settled for a BFC camp out instead. I thought I had dodged the bullet until this Christmas, when no sooner did I get the kids out of their star costumes from the Christmas program than I started getting the same old VBS question!
I started to think about it and all that it would entail, the limited help available, and the time to be put in. But as I tried to focus on the to do list the Lord kept dealing with my heart. The same heart that had been mine since I was eight…………..
It was a VBS 20 years ago in Colorado Springs. My sister and I had been visiting my Aunt & Uncle and were invited to a VBS in their neighborhood. I was a confused little thing following the divorce of my parents, and had not heard much about Jesus outside of Christmas ans Easter. I had no idea what VBS was about but they had cookies and crafts so I was in. After a week of fun, snacks, and cool songs I remember feeling like God was a person I could call my friend, and not some far off big thing I was too little to understand. This was the first time in my life I can remember that God had been brought down to my level and I was able to grasp Him.
I came home from that VBS with a new Bible, a cool coffee mug, and a friend in Jesus. I had no idea what a gift I was given until I was a children’s leader at BFC, and I realized just what it takes to put together a VBS. To spend time, money, and energy, to provide an environment where kids can have fun, form friendships, play, and get to know God a little better over brownies and a juice box.
VBS is a huge undertaking for those who put it on, donate their time, money, and talents. It is a commitment on the part of the parents and care takers. It is an exhausting, fun filled, crazy week! And I am here to tell you it is worth it.
This year we are going to have an amazing VBS at Berthoud Family Church. recently I went up and checked out tons of kits to theme our VBS 2010 venture. I poured over packet after packet, kit after kit to ensure we got just the right one.
After much deliberation we have decided to announce the theme for 2010 VBS!
Hero Headquarters has one first prize & will be headlining our VBS this summer! VBS will be held June 14th-18th from 9am-12am each day! We will have classes, songs, games, snacks, and fun for preschoolers through preteens!
Look for pre-registration events at Berthoud Days and our spring fling (date to be set in May)
We still need a ton of help,and there is much to do between now and then.So contact Jenna if you are interested in helping in any way. And even if you are not interested still contact her & she will find something for you to do!!!

It feels like it has been for ever since I posted…oh it has. Sory to all of our readers, I have let my blog get put on the back burner, but I am trying to keep it caught up.
So let’s see what is up……
We had a super fun Valentines party a few weeks back and are continuing our road trip through the fruits of the spirit. Currently we are on Patients with Kindness coming up for next week.
The kids have been enjoying crafts, games, and scripture that is helping us to better undestand each fruit a little better. I have to say the skits these giys have been coming up with are amamzing!
You also may have noticed that they have not been coming home with worksheets! This is do to the travel journals we have been making that will be coming home at the end of our lesson.
I am not sure when we will wrap this up since we have Easter coming up and may not be done. We will see”)
VBS 
Unfortunalty I missed the vbs meeting in fortcollins last week but I am going up to check out a few kits. I will have them for us to look at at our vbs meeting in march. I would love to have the parents help to choose a kit! Look for a letter home soon with more info!
So sorry it has taken forever to get back to posting! I will try to keep it up to date and look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

I want to thank Miss Sheryl and Jan Stanko for helping with the Valentines party! I was out of town and the kids said it was tons of fun! You guys are great!
Also thanks to all out moms who have volunteered in the Nursery and Toddler rooms we really need help down there and appreciate all your efforts to help. We also have a 3 & 4 year old class now taught by miss sheryl, if you would like to help in any of the classes sign up and let Jenna know! We always need help and couldn’t do it with out you.
I love all of the wonderful helpers I get to know in our children’s department. You guys are amazing and even if I am crazy busy most of the time, and may not stop and say it. I appreciate you all and love you a ton!

Sorry it took me so long to get the pics up, but I just came off the sugar high
The BFC 2009 Fall Fest was amazing:) We are so blessed to have such wonderful families! Everyone pitched in & helped out! As a result the entire night was just amazing .

In the midst of all the fun & good times we managed to raise $$$$$ for our Children’s church! We have enough money from the parent driven bake sale, to get new curriculum, supplies, & some fun stuff that the kids want!

The camp out has come & gone, but we had a ton of fun! There were crafts, food, games, singing, smores, the fire men, & of course tent camping!
It was unanimous & we decided to make this an annual event! From the smore eating to card playing! It just rocked!

You may have noticed that your kids have been bringing home the Bible Blitz take home sheets. The kids are earning points towards a pizza party for bringing the sheets home, completing them, & returning them signed.
We have been doing these at home with our son & they have really gotten the dinner conversation going. I think I am having more fun than my son is with the activities!
Try doing them at dinner or during a time when the entire family can get involved!
You are all wonderful parents & special friends & we love you

Our Veggie Tale premier of the new movie Abe & The Amazing Promise so much fun that we are planning another one! I just spoke with Larry Boy the other day & he agreed we really need to do another movie event
So Larry & I are working on bringing you the coolest new movie from Big Idea Entertainment…………….Stay tuned for the release date to come!

This summer the kidz came up with a really fun way to share their Living Water -Jesus! We put together a Jesus Aid commercial that the children wrote & produced all on their own. It was really fun & so cute!
Unfortunately their lame leader is still having trouble loading it! I promise I will figure out a way soon, so stay tuned!
The kidz were so jazzed about this that we are considering starting our own web show called i-Jesus ! Look for it this Fall
